July 8th - August 5th

"Reclaiming the Water" is an exploration of the pervasive stereotype that Black Americans do not or cannot swim. Through this latest body of work, Jay delves into the deep-rooted trauma stemming from the Transatlantic Slave Trade and segregation, which has historically distanced Black communities from associating water with joy and play. Drawing from his own childhood memories, Jay seeks to affirm and reclaim our connection to water, transforming it into a source of empowerment and healing.
